A Walk Back In Time

Since Maui was out of the question (HaHa) Gary and I
had to settle for a week-end in St. George to celebrate
 our 34th Anniversary

Saturday was beautiful with temps in the 70's and so
we decided to hike to some Anasazi petroglyphs
that we had heard about

This is looking down on the Santa Clara River

After hiking for over an hour we finally came upon
these but seriously there were no more petroglyphs to be
found and we're like we've hiked all this way for this?!

Disappointed we headed back down the trail.
After awhile we came upon some people gathered around
a group of rocks.  Come to find out we had hiked right
past not knowing that you have to hike down off the trail
among some boulders in order to find the petroglyphs
(Perhaps the BLM could mark that more clearly?  Just saying)

Anyway, as you can see we were happy to have finally
found them and they were pretty amazing

Keep in mind that the "old goats" are to the
right of the picture . . .

We decided the Anasazi must have had a
great sense of humor!!

Even though our hike ended up being 3 hours
long we really did enjoy our "Walk back in time"!

Mt View Golf

After being "sidelined" from the Mt View football team
Derek decided to give the golf team a try

They recently had their last tournament at
Wasatch Mt Golf Course in Midway

It was a great day for golf and the fall
leaves were amazing

Derek played well and hit some great shots

A big thanks to Coach LeChem who is
in his second year of coaching the Bruins,
but has really coached Derek since the age of 2!!

Life Elevated

On the last "official" Saturday of the summer
we decided to go on an adventure,
So off we went up Little Cottonwood Canyon
to Snowbird for a ride on the Tram

All loaded up and ready for take-off!
(I think Derek's shirt will be looking for a nest . . . haha)

Looking up . . .

. . . And then looking down at Snowbird.

At an elevation of 11,000 feet we could see
for miles and miles

This is looking down into the Salt Lake Valley

Looking North with Mt Timpanogos in the background

We hiked down and around some of
the ski areas

This is a tunnel that skiers use in the
winter to get from one side of the
mountain to the other

They just step on this conveyor belt
and off they go . . . who knew?!

Hiking down was great, hiking back up the
mountain to catch the Tram to go back
not so great but we did it!

Life really is "elevated" in this great State!!

LA Week-end

Before heading to Santa Barbara for the reunion
we spent the week-end in LA

Saturday night the Angels were playing the Oakland A's
It was a fun game even though the A's lost!

Sunday we went and walked around the grounds of the
Newport Beach temple which is beautiful.

We then went to the LA temple and were
surprised at how big it is.

At the other end of the spectrum, the boys wanted
to experience the Hollywood "Walk of Fame"

This was one of their favorite stars

Sunday evening we headed to 911 Venice Boulevard
to the place that Grandpa Chem grew up---
the mortuary that his father owned

Monday morning we went shopping in Santee Alley
which is located in the LA Fashion District,
1 word for this place . . . interesting.

Enjoyed ourselves an "alley dog" which is a hot dog
wrapped in bacon with the works---deliciousness!

One week-end in LA and look at what happens . . .
enough said!!

LeChem Family Beach Reunion

We just enjoyed an awesome family reunion in
beautiful Santa Barbara, California

We had fun at the beach making sand castles . . .

playing in the water . . .

 surfing . . .

and had ALOT of fun

boogie boarding.

The boys rented a paddle board and a surf board

and soon found out it's not as easy as it looks!

The best part--- wrapping up in a warm towel!

One afternoon we went to Shoreline park for a picnic,

to fly kites,

and play ball.

The guys enjoyed their golf outing

and we enjoyed our shopping!

Our last night we ate at this quant little place
and the food was yummy!

LOVED our Beach Reunion :)
and a huge thanks to Jeff & Julie for
putting up with all of us!!
